The Mythicist Position | Mythicism

Here is my video on the Mythicist Position or Mythicism. Freethinkaluva and Vega (Allan Jones) helped me put this together, so many thanks to them!

“Well done!”

“Acharya’s video ‘The Mythicist Position | What is Mythicism?’ helps introduce the mythicist position to the masses, and for that I’m thankful. We can already see from online rebuttals and discussion that such efforts are reaching their goal. Well done! Nevertheless, we remain in an early stage of this major paradigm shift, where Jesus mythicism continues to be ignored (with increasing difficulty) by mainstream academia and by the greater public. Hopefully, with efforts such as Acharya’s, this viewpoint will be more widely acknowledged and the words ‘mythicist’ and ‘mythicism’ will soon appear in the Oxford English Dictionary. We may also hope for the day when they will appear in textbooks used by New Testament professors.”

  1. That video so describes my views on religion. It just seems so blatantly obvious to me. I can’t believe we’ve gone all these centuries without a decent mythicist position. It all makes so much more sense now.

Here’s the forum thread (http://freethoughtnation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=2160&start=0), I shall consider myself a mythicist from this day forth!!!

    Priceless, can’t thank you enough!!!

    Booyahhhhh

  2. In my view, the mythicist position video and related articles and books are sorely needed throughout the academic world today. The video is spot-on. I’m quite impressed, frankly.

I’d like to see academia give astrotheology and the mythicist position the attention they deserve. Either Acharya S is ahead of her time or academia is far behind or both.

The above should be sent to every university and every professor/teacher of theology and comparative religion courses/classes. The history of mythicism and the mythicist position should be taught in every course.

  3. I asked Mr. Rene Salm (one of the creators of the Mythicist Prize (http://freethoughtnation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2799&start=0) along with Dr. Robert Price, Frank Zindler and Earl Doherty ) for his thoughts on the new mythicist position video and related links in an e-mail and with permission, here’s his comment:

I’d also love to hear from Dr. Robert Price, Earl Doherty, Sam Harris, Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens and many others. From where I stand Acharya S/D.M. Murdock is certainly breaking new ground here and deserves to be recognized as a leading expert in the field of mythology and astrotheology.

  4. Discussion of Mythicist Position Video at Booktalk
We have a lively discussion at http://www.booktalk.org/the-mythicist-position-t8706.html
Booktalk.org has a good level of discussion on atheism, spirituality and mythology. This thread, started by Free Thought Nation moderator Tat Tvam Asi, has discussion on implications of the Mythicist Position for Christian religion. The Mythicist Position video is a superb resource to start discussion about the real truth of the Bible.

  5. You hit the nail squarely on the head. Sectarians are, in a way, mythicists too. They just can’t make out the difference between white and black and end up “unthinking believers” as Atheists describe them. They are the favorites of religious scoundrels. They are the disciples of St. Ignatius Loyola who said, “We should always be disposed to believe that what appears white is really black if the hierarchy of the Church so dictates.”

    Thanks, you brightened my day.
