Christian persecution by Muslims on the rise?

christian copts egypt persecution protest hollandIt seems as if a dam has burst with the amount of reports coming out from a variety of sources worldwide regarding persecution of Christians, largely at the hands of Muslims. Last week the Wall Street Journal ran an article called “Islamic Christianophobia” that highlights the persecution of Christians in Muslim-dominant nations and how the world is ignoring it. Are the incidents increasing, or is there just more reportage?

In the wake of the ruling in Malaysia wherein Christians are now allowed to use the word “Allah” for God there have been several reports of attacks on Christians and churches in that nation. As concerns continued governmental oppression of non-Muslims, a Malay Christian woman had a series of CDs seized because they used the word “Allah” for God but were about Christianity.

In Algeria, the New York Times relates, a Protestant church was burned and looted by Muslims, based on increasing hostility and “religious intolerance in the Arab and Muslim world.” From their comments, the Algerian authorities are too afraid to intervene: “Authorities don’t want to get involved because they’re worried of getting in trouble with the Islamists…”

As I’ve related a number of times, the ancient community of Coptic Christians in Egypt is said to be on the brink of extinction, with constant assaults from Muslims there. The Coptic population is very important, because they are human beings first of all, and secondly because they represent the only living link to the glorious Egyptian past! They must not be allowed to be genocided to extinction, which is where they are headed.

The “Islamists,” as these Muslims are often styled in the media, are rattling their sabers everywhere. Ever since 9/11, these fanatics have tasted blood. In this regard, it does not matter who really orchestrated 9/11 – to the rabid would-be world conquerors, civilized society is frightened enough now of Islamic violence that it is capitulating left and right to whatever demands the most criminal, violent and hateful segment of humanity makes. The entire world, it seems, is being held hostage by pirates and brigands who would enjoy seeing all of humankind enslaved in black and white garb, with all color and creativity removed, with severity, brutality and abuse the norm, rather than the sorry exception.

1. Coptics must survive!
Acharya, you are standing up for Christians! I’m impressed! The fact that they are the only link to Egypt’s golden age is amazing! I must do more research. You have to admit that protestant countries have better human rights then Islamic countries. They treat their women better too. Christianity might very well be all mythology but at least the protestant nations are kinder to thier own citizens then Catholic and Islamic nations. They have less poverty too! You know what is real strange? C.S. Lewis, once a devout athiest turned Christian said that God uses mythology to get His work done. I don’t think you will agree but that is an interesting point.

1. You think she is standing up for christians? give me a break. Look at her past work. It’s obvious she’s trying to create divisiveness.

1. And you obviously know very little about me or my work.

Here I am trying to call attention to a group slated for genocide – but that doesn’t bother you, apparently. Instead, you are interested in a personal attack on me, creating real divisiveness against a living, breathing human being. But you don’t care about your obvious hatred towards me as a person, do you?

People who have actually read my work will understand that I am critiquing and comparing ideologies - something that sorely needs to be done – not personally attacking individuals or even groups of people. Indeed, the ideologies I am examining are what is causing divisiveness.

There is a huge difference between what I do and the behavior of those who come here and make make disparaging comments about me personally. In fact, again, it’s the blind defense of vicious human-hating ideologies that makes people behave in this antisocial manner.

1. Yeah, a biased look at ideologies. If you were fair, you’d also note that France is considering fining for burqas, and Switzerland banning minnerettes. Not to mention how Islam and Hindus treat each other or even christians in Indian and pakistan.
Nobody here is stupid. They see what you are doing, and you’re probably getting paid to do this or are being blackmailed/threatened to do this. That’s the only thing that makes sense to me. Because your arguments don’t make any sense to me except in that context.

1. Sorry, but your insidious innuendos must revolve back on yourself, since your mind is obviously possessed of suspicion, not reason and certainly not beauty or friendliness.

In fact, your comments constitute calumny and libel. You do not know me or my motives at all. It is a shame that the internet breeds such atrociously dishonest characters, who seem to be a dime a dozen.

The fact that you do not know me at all is evident not only from your sociopathic characterization of my persona but also from your ignorance of the many articles I have written about the French, the burkha, the Swiss, the minarets and numerous other aspects of a wide variety of subjects including not only the Abrahamic religions but also Buddhism, Hinduism and the religions of ancient Greece, Egypt, Rome and much more.

To dismiss the fascinating information I have brought forth with your ridiculous vitriol constitutes infantilism and is a major reason we have so many problems on this planet.

Further personal attacks will not be passed through. I am not obliged to accept lies about my person from deceitful people.

2. I’m amazed at how many people miss your points!

3. You might be even more amazed at the hateful, vicious spew that doesn’t make it through! These folks don’t seem to have any compassion or empathy towards other human beings. They spit venomous trash and horrendous personal attacks against people they do not know in the least.

You could be the nicest person in the world, constantly giving of yourself to others, upholding the law of the land, being a responsible citizen, helping out the community, walking old people across the street and watching out for everyone’s kids and pets, but if you don’t believe – watch out! You will be attacked, abused, insulted, harassed, harangued and smeared relentlessly.

yes indeed! i took an interest in evolutionary psychology, mainly to help me solve my own internal dilemmas, and in my googling came across an interesting theory on the relationship between neanderthals and homo sapiens in the levant – that bloody levant again! this is the website: http://www.themandus.org/ it is only a theory, but does raise some interesting points in regard to the development and the genetic transmission of modern human behavior and physiology. i know it doesn’t necessarily tie in with your work specifically, but your comment struck me as significant. i hear a lot of people say the same thing! the current science does not support the interbreeding of the two species, and we know that all neanderthals are now dead, but their possible effects on us perhaps remain, like some archaic echo. i looked closely at the relationship between this theory and religion in general and i think i may be onto something! anyway, i hope you find it interesting, and keep up the good work:-)

-Father John Sheehan, SJ

3. Oh yes, spitting is much worse than burning down churches and raping Christian girls! 😡

By the way, I blogged about the spitting Jews (http://freethoughtnation.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=181:orthodox-jews-are-such-a-classy-lot-not&catid=35:judaism).

4. There’s no major problem of religion in Malaysia..whats the truth happening there is the some quarter in the minority chinese/indian opposition coalition has succeed in their conspiracy at work to undermine and playing ‘chuckie’ in term of religion and race against the majority malays there.. they are trying to coup d’etat the ruling party using all kind of hatred methods .

1. I’d say that rampaging through the streets and attacking Christians and their churches is a major problem with religion in Malaysia. How much more major do you need it?

5. You called Him Jesus Christ

Yes there is attack on the churches.. but there’s also attack on Mosque in the incident… yet no condemnation

6. First of all, we are talking about Christians who are essentially native to the countries, such as the Copts in Egypt, who were there for centuries before the invading Muslims decimated their population. In turn, Christians usurped the Egyptian religion and destroyed her sacred areas, murdering all her priests.

The church in Algerian was likely frequented largely by native Christians, whose lineage likewise may go back centuries. Ditto with the Malaysians – these are ethnic Malays being persecuted.

None of these groups had anything to do with the Crusades.

In any event, the Crusades were in significant part a reaction to Muslim aggression that had been occurring for centuries by that point. See Fjordman’s excellent history lesson (http://sheikyermami.com/2009/09/10/fjordman-fourteen-centuries-of-jihad-war-against-european-civilization/) on this common – and false – Muslim apology.

Don’t fall for Muslim propaganda.

1. Don’t…
.. fall for Z’nist propaganda!

1. No one here is falling for Zionist propaganda. What has that got to do with the Copts, Algerians and Malays – are they all Zionists? Wow! The Jews really do rule everything. :s

7. Imaginary Holocaust?
I would have to say the illegal invasion of Iraq and the continued “accidental” killings of Afghans goes far beyond the Egyptian attack on Christians, considering it was the coptics that raped a Muslim girl to begin with.

Lets be realistic here for a moment.

1. Were there any WMDs in Iraq?
2. Was there a rape of a Muslim girl by Coptic Christians?

1. No
2. Yes

7 dead in the rape case over a million murdered in the WMD case.

1A. Did Mohammed say to murder Christains?
2A. Did Jesus tell George bush Iraq had WMDs?

1A. No
2A. Yes

1. Are we sure there was a rape? And this heinous crime excuses rabid, foaming-at-the-mouth Muslim maniacs from rampaging in the streets? That seems to be their forte.

In civilized cultures, we go and arrest the man who committed the rape – we don’t rampage through neighborhoods burning buildings and killing people.

Therein lies the difference.

2. 1A. Did Mohammed say to murder Christains?

1A. Yes : The Jews say, “Ezra is the son of Allah “; and the Christians say, “The Messiah is the son of Allah .” That is their statement from their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved [before them]. May Allah —>destroy

8. islamism, christianism, what’s the difference?
not much! if we strip away the semantics these two are more similar than different. they both identify with abraham, the father of the israelites and the ishmaelites. christianism is just romanised hellenistic babylonian judaism, plundered from the ruins of jerusalem by cunning roman emporers, and judaism is just the empty echo of the mysteries of the mosaic cult system, elements of which were taught to him by his father-in-law jethro, who was the priest of the rural ancestor cult that identifies with elohim. anyway, my point is: ALL religion is just an excuse for a lack of logic and should be banished from the planet! the longer we are fed the delusion of ‘freedom of religion’, and swallow it, the more justification we give to lunatics to defend their right to kill for their particular belief set, even if it incorporates the most heinous of crimes against humanity. and no one ever asks: what is a TRUE religion? mmm, i’ll ponder that for about a microsecond…yes, a true religion is one that is stained with the blood of those who dared to challenge it. sheesh! hurry up evolution, we’re counting on you;-)

9. It’s something about something
It’s all misdirection.

10. Using comman sense!

Got this in a email
got this in an email it’s not pc but IT IS TRUTH…….

This is very interesting and we all need to read it from start to finish and send it on to anyone who will read it. Maybe this is why our American Muslims are so quiet and not speaking out about any atrocities. Can a good Muslim be a good American? This question was forwarded to a friend who worked in Saudi Arabia for 20 years. The following is his reply:

Theologically – no . . . Because his allegiance is to Allah, The moon God of Arabia

Religiously – no. . . Because no other religion is accepted by His Allah except Islam (Quran, 2:256)(Koran)

Scripturally – no. . . Because his allegiance is to the five Pillars of Islam and the Quran.

Geographically – no . Because his allegiance is to Mecca , to which he turns in prayer five times a day.

Socially – no. . . Because his allegiance to Islam forbids him to make friends with Christians or Jews..

Politically – no. . . Because he must submit to the mullahs (spiritual leaders), who teach annihilation of Israel and destruction of America , the great Satan.

Domestically – no. . Because he is instructed to marry four Women and beat and scourge his wife when she disobeys him (Quran 4:34)

Intellectually – no. . Because he cannot accept the American Constitution since it is based on Biblical principles and he believes the Bible to be corrupt.

Philosophically – no. . . Because Islam, Muhammad, and the Quran do not allow freedom of religion and expression.. Democracy and Islam cannot co-exist. Every Muslim government is either dictatorial or autocratic.

Spiritually – no. . . Because when we declare ‘one nation under God,’ the Christian’s God is loving and kind, while Allah is NEVER referred to as Heavenly father, nor is he ever called love in The Quran’s 99 excellent names.

Therefore, after much study and deliberation….

Perhaps we should be very suspicious of ALL MUSLIMS
in this country. – – – They obviously cannot be both
‘good’ Muslims and good Americans.

Call it what you wish, it’s still the truth. You had better believe it. The more who understand this, the better it will be for our country and our future. The religious war is bigger than we know or understand.
Can a muslim be a good soldier???

Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, opened fire at Ft. Hood and Killed 13. He is a good Muslim!!!
Footnote: The Muslims have said they will destroy us from within.

11. Do the Islamists spit on Christians and the Cross and when passing a Church as the Jews do?

12. Wrong Bill — Look up the barbary coast pirates from the north african coast on Google. circa 1780’s. They declared war on the emerging US. Then US had to assemble an armada of ships to attack Tripoli which is now in Libya.

13. Malaysian Christians
Ordinary SEA & You called him Jesus Christ are apologists for the ruling government. It all boils down to who gains from this situation. Nothing seem to happen when they tried along the racial line. Time tested religious sensitivity was one way. In any case as a Malaysian even though the Malays are muslims, they are very nice people not because they are muslims but because the Malay race are generally very nice people. I know since I grew amongst them.

In any case there are always those with MOB mentality in every nation of the world, and someone here decided to use one of the many rules in Protocols of Zion.

14. “…you subscribe to the beliefs of the mystery schools…”

I don’t subscribe to any beliefs, as beliefs are flimsy boats that I don’t use to sail the ocean of life. I adhere to scientific facts wherever possible.

My books are not based on the writings of any single individual but extend back to the earliest artifacts and evidence that we possess in the world at large. From there, I move forward through thousands of years to the present time, acquiring knowledge from as broad and deep a base as possible, researching across not only many timelines but also numerous languages from a wide variety of entire cultures, not just one or more individuals.

Here I am speaking of the Copts as the living continuation of the Christianized Egyptian religion, passed directly from the people who created it at Alexandria, Egypt. All the rest is modern detritus that is irrelevant to the subject.

15. Egyptian – Christian, misguided
While it is true that the Coptic Christians are Human beings first and foremost, it is however untrue that “they represent the only living link to the glorious Egyptian past!”

I will go out on a limb and make an educated assumption, that based on the astro-theology books advertised on the side, you subscribe to the beliefs of the mystery schools. All generally brought to light by the Russian mystic Helena Blavatsky, and then recently rehashed, and twisted with word games by Jordan Maxwell. There is a lot of history in the occult, arcane, sort of belief that isn’t really put up front in that sort of belief structure. Most of Blavatskys learnings that she unveiled in her “isis Unveiled” books came from a Saturn worshipping Roman named Tacitus, who had received false information about what the Torah actually said while he was writing a short ethnographic survey of the ancient Jews prior to the Emperor Titus’s suppression of the Great Jewish Revolt. This survey Tacitus wrote would go on to influence the attitudes and demeanour towards the Jewish peoples, and therefore the later to come Catholic Church.

Now on the to Coptic Christians…The Coptic Church is based on the teachings of Saint Mark who brought Christianity to Egypt during the reign of the Roman emperor Nero in the first century, a dozen of years after the Lord’s ascension. Thus showing no connection to the Ancient Egyptian culture, or mysteries. The Coptic Christians themselves claim to be the only Christian Church that has retained the actual information, and rituals, language etc that were in existence from Jesus time. There is no relation between the Coptics and the Mystery Religions that are pushed through Theosophy, or Astro-Theology.

Thanks for the chance to debate the fine point of your article. While i agree with some of the tenets of Theosophy (Peace, and people co-operating regardless of race, or sex), i don’t like its history of backing, or supporting Nationalistic movements, or the fact that it is disingenuous about it’s motives, or directions. It is always good to look deeper than we had thought was possible/comfortable.

1. re: Egyptian – Christian, misguided
quote: “The Coptic Church is based on the teachings of Saint Mark who brought Christianity to Egypt during the reign of the Roman emperor Nero in the first century…”

evidence?

16. mass genocide
can someone please step in and stop the mass genocide of muslims at the hands of christians in afghanistan, iraq, pakistan and possibly the yemen and iran.
these christians seem especially bloodthirsty and intent on wiping out muslims off the face of the earth. already the deathtoll runs into the millions.
oh acharya, i implore you to write an article about these untold unspeakable horrors perpertrated by christians of the western world!!! 😯

17. The genocide of Muslims by Christians? Is every one raping, murdering in the middle east a Christian? Not to down play the fact that our Government is paying PRIVATE contractors, to do the dirty work for many major Corp. But, in fact the Afghanistan war is more like Vietnam in that we are there to “protect” (rather make sure the MAJOR, players still are in control of it) the OPIUM TRADE!

This is a slippery slope saying Christians are doing this? When it crosses over into “ISRAELI” (actually both JEWISH AND GENTILE criminals alike work out of Israel for this and the sex trade) control of certain aspects of the black market trade, and not, noting that the people controlling such things are not religious at all just USURIOUS and GREEDY “BALL WASHING BASTARDS”, is sad.

18. what th’
do people like you actually read the stuff you write? what are you actually saying? what do the capitalisations mean? is that a secret code or something?

you know, the real problem with conspiracy theorists, apart from their lame and unsubstantiated arguements, is that secretly they are the ones who crave the manipulative skills they accuse unidentified others of asserting.

what did you gain by posting that crap? nothing. what did i gain from reading it? a freakin’ headache!

go do some study, then share what you discover:-)

19. Sorry if your little head hurts 😯 , do a google search for U.S. troops in poppy fields you will find the pictures very telling. OK so I used CAPITALIZATIONS, but exactly what part of what I wrote can you refute or was this an AD-homonym, because I mentioned the CHOSEN ONES state of USURY! Not all Jews like what is happening in the world but then you do not see very many pointing out to their own where they are going wrong as the Torah commands!

Here is my definition of a conspiracy theory: thoughts of events to which one is not a party to but is affected by, actions done behind closed doors that have far reaching consequences but few are party to their bringing to fruition of said plans.

By the way religion is a conspiracy theory in action!

20. The Hijra
1,400-year-old proscription for Muslims that originates in the Koran and the Sunnah, the deeds of Mohammed. It is the Hijra or doctrine of immigration. Modeled by Mohammed’s migration from Mecca to Medina, this immigration is not to a romanticized melting pot wherein newcomers gratefully search for opportunities for a better life in liberty and freely offer their talents and loyalty to benefit their new homeland. This is immigration for Islamic expansionism employing ethnic separatism to gain special status and privileges within the host country. Hijra is immigration designed to subvert and subdue non-Muslim societies and pave the way for eventual, total Islamization.

In their compelling book, “Modern Day Trojan Horse: The Islamic Doctrine of Immigration,” authors Sam Solomon, a former professor of shari’ah law and convert to Christianity, and Elias Al Maqdisi, an expert on Islamic teachings, explain the migration of Muslims to the Dar-al-Harb, the “land of war,” as a religious edict with a basis in Islamic doctrine. They delineate the step-by-step process of this 1,400-year-old strategy of conquest. It is a transitional strategy which they characterize as the most important step in spreading Islam and preparing for jihad. From their carefully delineated treatise on Hijra, it is clear that migration in concert with military conquest comprise the bookends of Islamic expansionism.

http://www.americanthinker.com/2009/08/the_hijra.html

The Crusades’ were to stop previous islamic expansionism!!

21. Can you blame them
Look at what the latter day Christian Crusaders have done to Muslim countries
