Akin’s ‘legitimate rape’ remark fuels women’s increasing skepticism of religion

I’m all broke up! Women, please leave these idiotic male-dominant cults in droves NOW!!! They are manmade, FALSE and destroying the world.

‘Legitimate rape’ remark fuels women’s increasing skepticism about religion

A roar has erupted over the now-famous phrase “legitimate rape,” Rep. Todd Akin’s clumsy attempt to justify fundamentalists’ justification of strict anti-abortion measures. Echoing President Obama’s assessment that rape is rape, the Washington Post editorial board suggested that a code is in play, that “the remarks are not the first, nor are they likely to be the last, in a long-running effort to downplay the horror of rape as a way to restrict access to abortion” and what anti-abortion politicians suggest is “that not all rape victims are victims.”

I’d go a step further. The code from fundamentalists sends a message that good women are not raped.

Yet women, particularly the most vulnerable, have difficulty abandoning religion. They’re less likely to become nonbelievers, because the church, mosque, synagogue and other religious communities promise security that their families might not provide….

Yet that safety factor could be in decline. Women can’t help but be skeptical about religious communities that resist women’s opinions on responsible family planning, education aspirations, career ambitions, and parenting goals – let alone parse the definition of rape. In competing for hearts and minds, religious leaders become strident, judgmental and exclusive, imposing rigid standards for good standing, not to mention a demand for financial support of such judgments.

The struggle to find security and religious perfection in a world of 7 billion people is leading to fragmentation and hyperdifferentation, suggest the editors of the Oxford Handbook of Feminist Theology. The most powerful tend to benefit from the fragmentation, repeatedly convincing many of the overwhelmed, women and men, to act against their own best interests.

Feminism tends toward inclusiveness, community and communication. The Internet, cellphones, air travel as instruments of modern globalization ensure that every community must confront constant, rapid change….

If the world’s women truly knew what they had lost in female-oriented religion, mythology and spirituality because of violent usurpation by male-dominant cults, many would undoubtedly be VERY angry. The horrendous “witch burnings” and most other torments, tortures and slaughters – genderocide – of women has been the result of this degradation of ancient traditions.

Man made God

One book I highly recommend in this regard is Man Made God by Barbara Walker, which I edited and published – this book provides much of the remedy for the male-dominant religious abuse!

In this remarkable collection, Walker turns a critical eye towards:

• Religion as big business
• Religion’s effects on children
• The Bible as a “moral guide” and “history”
• Biblical infallibility
• The doctrine of “original sin”
• The biblical attitude towards sexuality
• God as “Father”
• Church doctrine regarding women
• Church history vis-à-vis the Dark Ages, Inquisition, and book- and witch-burning
• Christian afterlife traditions
• Traditional Christian origins
• And much more…

From the “Foreword” to Man Made God:

We sing the hymn, “Morning Has Broken,” which speaks of the Garden of Eden “fresh from God’s Word,” and of God’s literal footstep on the first grass. We may think of it as a nice poetic metaphor, though the writer of the lyric obviously thought of it as the truth. But the story of Eden is not a nice poetic metaphor; nor is it true. It is a lie born out of ignorance, and what’s more, it is a pernicious lie that has caused an unimaginably huge amount of unnecessary human suffering over the centuries. It is the source of the doctrines of original sin, female inferiority and the damnation of disbelievers. The evils rooted in this myth still continue. There are still millions of people willing to kill or to die for Old Testament lies. There are millions of people who despise scientific enlightenment, who forbid real education for their children, who hate their neighbors if they disagree with Bible mythology. Battles are still fought, and will go on being fought, over religious nonsense. This is one of the greatest of human follies: Perhaps this is even what might be called the real original sin….

Today’s more informed Bible scholars and theologians know perfectly well that Jesus was never an identifiable single person, but rather a composite figure drawn from numerous savior-god traditions. They know that there never was a single coherent philosophy that could be called Christian, dating from the early years of our era. But today’s theologians seldom dare to make this knowledge clear to the general public. Why not?

The answer is money. If the real truth of “gospel truth” should become widely revealed, the financial loss would be devastating.

  1. If I ruled the world…
I’d sell it or take best offer for better place to live, lol. Down with women’s rights, and down with men’s rights! Obviously people have to many rights, so many rights I wonder what will be left. Too many chiefs in our kitchen ! I don’t want women telling me what’s right for a man, and men telling me what’s right for a woman. Let a woman tell a man what’s right for her, and man tell a woman what’s right for a man. I cannot possibly understand anything a woman needs that I do not( food , shelter, etc.) so why would i tell her things like what or how to be a woman. But indoctrination of thought process leads us to decisions about what brings joy or pain. In other words everything you know is a hallucination of the mind. That is until someone violates your third eye( its brown for those guessing) then all of a sudden sh*t gets real LEGITAMATE. Every man who wants a woman of a rape to keep her baby when she doesn’t should have to be raped( violently) to cast a vote for anti abortion!( sorry, me mad.) – peace

  2. Akin’s comments …
Remind me of the silly, emotionally immature/retarded locker-room type stories pubescent boys pass around when their hormones first start kicking in and they know nothing about women or themselves.

  3. Maat is Truth
The Genesis text comes from an older Summerian text. With a few key alteretions (the original Summerian text is partly exposed in the Louvres for all to see).
So long for the “revealed” religion.
Yes Man makes God to his own image, and speaks in his/her name.
But it doesn’t mean that some Transcendence didn’t “make” Man first. And that Man possibly rebelled, got lost, and forgot his origins.
But since Truth is eternal and then unforgettable, this Fallen Man possibly knew that on the roads of intuition and imagination the Original Man would look for -precisely- his origins. So he conspired to construct false ladders leading back to the Source. Those false ladders -really roads to hell- were designed to deceive all truth seekers : they are called ‘religions’. Designed to indeed demean the feminine and pit human beings against each other, generation after generation. “During this time for sure they will all get lost in the delusion we fabricated and won’t even conceive of a higher truth ; as for the atheists they are our agents too …MEANWHILE I KEEP RULING”.
Mmh… not for long Darkness My Old Friend…

    1. LOL!
Credit due to whom credit is due! Mankind, destroying the laws of physics by further burying his head further up his butt, into total darkness (lol) blind leading blind. The question always then begs answered, who’s butt is my head up?

    2. ?
And, it doesn’t mean that some transcendence did make man first.
      There is no “fallen man”.
Who are atheists agents of? The same creators of religion/delusion? Hardly.
Ram Dass … “You’ve gotta remember your zip code”

      1. Men rape their own daughters…
Men torture to hell their fellows citizens… etc… …
And there is no Fallen Man ?
Dogmas are our evil twins. Be they religious, delusional as they all are, or atheists. Or scientific by the way.
        FACTS should be our beacons.

  4. Grammar Correct. Akin Incorrect.

    SOMEONE’S COMMENT:

I guess this proves that Akin is 100% wrong when he said that women don’t get pregnant from rape. And to Arthur P. Kaske. I was waiting for someone to blame Obama for this. You win the prize!

Does the (above) news article demonstrate that Rep. Todd Akin’s comment about rape and abortion IS incorrect???

I’ll correct my grammar and answer my own question by saying:
The (above) news article demonstrates that Rep. Todd Akin’s comment about rape and abortion IS incorrect???

In the case of “forced” rape, the female victim should be able to decide the fate of the creation of the monster that attacked her.

I can’t imagine the degree of anxiety tormenting the mind of the woman during the nine (long) months that the monster’s creation is growing within her.

Rep. Todd Akin, and like minded people, might fit in fairly well with a Muslim family in Afghanistan.

  5. ” If the real truth of “gospel truth” should become widely revealed, the financial loss would be devastating.”
So why are you trying to proof something that you can never proof ?
The non-existance of Jesus is unprovable !!!
There is freedom of religion , freedom to believe in fairy tales , so what can you change about that ?
The truth revealed ? The only result is that people will search for alternatives , especially Islam will becoming appealing . Do you want to islamize planet earth . So let them , the jewish christian culture and religion lead at the end to the world we have nowadays and that is much better then the darkness of those pagan warriors in the past millennia .
Indians who cut out hearts of living people , slavery was quiet common world wide , castrations was a common practice , beheadings etc . Only because of christian-jewish culture we have ended up with human rights.
Don’t forget these simple facts .

  6. In short …
Akin is simply delusional, regardless of what he “really” meant. He’s obviously not scientifically/medically literate enough to even seem correct except to people on his level of same illiteracy. His words are those of an uneducated, immature, compassionless hillbilly.

  7. Dawkins
Quote by Richard Dawkins in a Playboy interview regarding Pope Benedict’s visit to England:

DAWKINS: Two of my favorites were keep your rosaries off my ovaries and hands off my eggs, benedict. [laughs]

  8. We mythicists are not trying to prove the non-existence of Jesus. We are demonstrating that he is a mythical figure, based on pre-Christian myths, the real meanings of which are extremely germane to all of us – in fact, these astrotheological meanings unite the world beyond the rotten religious fanaticism.

We expose this information because it’s vitally important to humanity to stop believing in these deleterious and culturally bigoted fairytales that have led to the deaths of tens if not hundreds of millions worldwide.

Regardless of all the frantic handwaving distractions, the fact will remain that the “Jesus Christ” of the New Testament is a fictional compilation of characters, real and mythical, and that a composite of multiple “people” is no one.

The truth will set us all free of common misconceptions that continue to cause grief and destruction globally. If you are not interested these facts and truths as we have discerned them and are presenting them, you are always free to go elsewhere, but we will continue to share the results of our research.

Moreover, we are not interested in choosing the lesser of two evils over Islam. If you knew my work, you wouldn’t ask whether or I am aiding in the Islamization of the earth, as I CONSTANTLY expose its vileness as well.

It is nonsense to suggest that in order to prevent the spread of falsehood we should all join a different false cult. What we all need to do is to cast off the culturally bigoted and misogynistic cults from the desert regions and become free human beings. We are currently at the mercy of the desert dementia of the Abrahamic cultus – I’m not interested in becoming insane by following any branch of it. :-x

    Cheers.

    1. Dear Acharya,
You fight dogmatism wherever you find it. And I love you for that.
Be it Christian or Islam, or whatever.
But you never address the fact that “Man is a Religious animal” as Mircea Iliade stated. Are “we” -as Mankind- looking for our lost origins maybe ?
      Wake up darling !

      1. Thanks. I can assure you that I am quite awake, as others who are also awake would certainly know.

I also never address how to perform a lobotomy and a million other things. But please feel free to pursue your own passion as you see fit, while I continue to do my work likewise.

        Cheers.

  9. Ba dum tssss.
If physicality reflects the spirituality of mankind, then surely it is darkness for many that shines forth.
