"God in the Box" is a terrific film that I think will help enlighten the world and increase peace by providing an open dialogue regarding religion, mythology and atheism. If we can all accept that numerous, often disparate ideas exist within the human experience, strife and division can only be decreased.
As a participant in this documentary, I am delighted to see that it is getting the recognition it deserves. Thank you, Carmel Art & Film Festival and Clint Eastwood!
In the press release of this papyrus discovery, Dr. King "repeatedly cautioned that this fragment should not be taken as proof that Jesus, the historical person, was actually married." Nor should this fragment be taken as proof that Jesus was a historical person in the first place. So long as these artifacts are interpreted through the false lens of historicity, they will not make sense.
To the rabid rampagers globally attempting to silence us through their violence and through the imposition of "blasphemy" and "defamation of religion" laws designed to shut up criticism of the very ideology that causes them to rampage violently, your efforts at curbing my free speech are blasphemous against my religion, so can I have you arrested?
"The price of liberty is eternal vigilance."
As one of the prophets of my religion, the third American president, Thomas Jefferson (power be upon him), once said: "The last hope of human liberty in this world rests on us." It is also said, "The price of liberty is eternal vigilance." As a historian and traveler, I am aware that the United States of America is one of the last true bastions of liberty, and I am eternally vigilant in preventing the erosion of my civil and human rights, a censorial act of aggression that blasphemes my faith of freedom.
Here is a scripture from one of the holy texts of my religion, composed by some of the main prophets of my religion:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Note the parts about not establishing a religion or abridging free speech? If you go against these verses of my scriptures, you are blaspheming my religion. Therefore, by your anti-blasphemy and defamation of religion laws designed to protect your violent, hateful ideology of women-oppression and enslavement, you are behaving illegally in blaspheming someone else's religion. And I'm sorry, but my religion of freedom and peace trumps yours of enslavement and violence.
Here is one of the main sacred scriptures of my religion:
The Constitution of the United States is the supreme law of the United States of America.... It is the oldest written national constitution in continuous use, and it influenced later international figures establishing national constitutions.
There is a reason why this constitution has endured, where others have failed, and why the U.S. remains a great nation, even though it is composed of people from cultures, races, ethnicities and religions globally: The individual freedoms encased in this text, written by some of the most enlightened persons in history. These freedoms do not include rampaging violently through the streets because someone has supposedly offended you by speaking facts and truths. These freedoms do, however, include the right to "offend" you by speaking facts and truths. Enlightened individuals understand that speaking words is vital to communication and understanding, whereas physical violence is the voice of barbarism and savagery.
"Enlightened individuals understand that speaking words is vital to communication and understanding, whereas physical violence is the voice of barbarism and savagery."
If your religion or "holy law" go against my sacred scriptures and holy law of the land, then you are breaking my religious law. It's that simple. Best give up your anti-blasphemy efforts, lest they bite you back.
1. a. A sacred writing or book. b. A passage from such a writing or book. 2. The sacred writings of the Bible. Often used in the plural. Also called Holy Scriptures. 3. A statement regarded as authoritative.
What is a sacred or holy scripture? Hundreds of millions of people around the world hold sacred the Bible, the Koran, the Dhammapada, the Vedas, Puranas and many other texts that are considered to be "divinely inspired" in some way or another. Countless people claim that there is a single god somewhere "out there" who directly inspired these texts, which are therefore infallible, since this god "himself" is infallible. Others see these texts as manmade and containing errors, although they may also possess much divinely inspired wisdom. Still others consider these so-called scriptures to be entirely contrived by human beings and a reflection of human understanding, rather than divine inspiration.
What is the truth? Is a book that contains endless stories of warfare and slaughter against infidels or unbelieving nations and individuals really "holy writ?" One which dictates that there are "chosen people" who are superior to others, who may thus be unreservedly dominated and exploited? Or that human beings are revolting "sinners" who can only achieve grace by believing in a "Son of God" who was hideously tortured and murdered "for our sins?" Is this sort of "scripture" truly the most appropriate and intelligent writing the God of the cosmos could come up with? Or could there be something much more enlightened that deserves to be held up in a higher sacrosanct position?
"We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."
The American Constitution may well be the "holiest of holies." It is not "infallible," nor does it address religion specifically, except for this particularly pithy amendment that is not only wholly relevant but also holy in its implications for securing liberty from religious imposition of all kinds:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."
These remarks do not suggest that the constitutions of other nations are necessarily inferior or that the U.S. is flawless, but at least in this well-considered and well-written scripture - as defined by the third definition: "A statement regarded as authoritative" - there is a chance for humanity to be truly free and to reach its best.
Here is a video about my religion:
Your anti-blasphemy laws blaspheme my religion, and many of your religious beliefs defame my religion. Please respect my religion and stop trying to force yours on the rest of us through such censorship, which only proves our criticisms to be true.
"Following our religion, we will continue to speak out against all oppression, hatred and violence, including and especially that of religions, sects and cults worldwide."
Following our religion, we will continue to speak out against all oppression, hatred and violence, including and especially that of religions, sects and cults worldwide. If your religion is being criticized by millions of peace-loving people globally, there is a reason for that criticism, and it isn't because we are all "filthy infidels." Instead of trying to censor our complaints and blaming the victims, you will need to look more closely at what you follow, which is setting itself up against the rest of us, in a position of enmity and hatred. There is absolutely nothing "peaceful" about it, and that falsehood about "peace" itself is one of the main criticisms we will continue to vocalize, despite your blasphemous efforts to censor us.
"If your religion or 'holy law' go against my sacred scriptures and holy law of the land, then you are breaking my religious law. It's that simple. Best give up your anti-blasphemy efforts, lest they bite you back."
P.S. If my ironic use of the term "religion" in my effort at fighting fire with fire and demonstrating that we are just as passionate about our perspective of reality makes you feel "uncomfortable," please listen to what one of the other prophets of my religion has to say.
One of the actresses from the now infamous "Muhammad" movie, "Innocence of Muslims," wants to clear her name. The film she was involved in making had nothing to do with Islam, Mohammed or Muslims. The actors and crew were tricked into the film by the producer, "Sam," who said he was "tired of radical Muslims running around and killing everyone." The original title of this film was "Desert Warriors," and it concerned a character named "George" 2,000 years ago in Egypt.
This woman is another innocent in this drama whose life has now been threatened, as the "religion-of-peacers" rampage in the streets and on Youtube, calling for the deaths of the film's actors and producer. The actors has nothing to do with this "Mohammed" film, which was dubbed afterwards, without their knowledge. While the producer's behavior in endangering these individuals is reprehensible and legally actionable, this instance reveals most importantly the absolute irrationality and madness of religious fanaticism. It is condemnable that the film's ridiculous caricatures of violent, foaming-at-the-mouth Islamic religious fanatics are being acted out for real all over the world.
I had an excellent time! This truth was not "stenchy" at all! As the program's host, Ted Torbich, said on Facebook, while posting this MP3 link:
My show with Acharya S from 9/7/12. This is a fantastic show that was a very positive and humanity centered talk on the power and potential of myth. Thank you Acharya for coming on my show!
Ted's contribution to the program was outstanding, and we did discuss how people's lives - humanity in general - can only be bettered by knowing this fascinating information about our shared cultural heritage dating back many thousands of years.
I'll be appearing on this Friday, September 7, 2012 beginning at 7:00 PM Eastern/4:00 PM Pacific/19:00 GMT.
This Friday, September 7th at 7pm EDT, Ted Torbich of The Stench of Truth introduces the remarkable knowledge buried within religious and mythological traditions through the staunch research of Scholar D.M. Murdock (aka Acharya S).
D.M. MURDOCK (aka ACHARYA S.) is an American author and proponent of the Christ myth theory. She has authored six books and operates a website named Truth be Known. She argues that Christianity is founded on earlier myths and the characters depicted in Christianity are based upon Roman, Greek, Egyptian, and other myths.
Tune in this Friday at 7pm eastern a broadcast session in comparative religion and mythology, right here on the Inception Radio Network.
You can also call the show at (888) 919-2355 to talk to me, or call just to listen at the phone numbers given on the site. You can also join the discussion live during the program. If you have any questions, including about an archived MP3, write to Ted Torbich at

"Millions of innocent men, women and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined, imprisoned: yet we have not advanced one inch towards uniformity. What has been the effect of coercion? To make one half the world fools, and the other half hypocrites. To support roguery and error all over the earth."
American president Thomas Jefferson, Notes on the State of Virginia, Query XVII
Please spare me the "America was founded as a Christian nation" pabulum. The Founding Fathers were trying to prevent the Christian tyranny that had plagued Europe for centuries and that had been carried across the pond by the Puritans who were purportedly escaping persecution by other Christians but who themselves became the persecutors. What else is new.
There is no way on Goddess's green earth that Jefferson would be part of the Christian fanaticism prevalent in the party that he founded (his original party is now called the "Democratic-Republican Party"). It is obvious from his battle with John Adams, who was more like the evangelists of today, that Jefferson was not of that mindset at all.
Thomas Jefferson was a freethinker, not a devout Christian. The secular U.S. is largely his vision. I stand with Jefferson, as a freethinker and secularist. Jefferson has been a significant role model for me since I was a child, and I consider him one of the greatest human beings who ever lived. I emulated his education by studying Classics and languages.
We CANNOT allow Jefferson's great vision to be destroyed after a mere 230+ years. That destruction would be a crime against humanity! Imagine nothing but lands of tyranny and oppression, with nowhere to turn or run to. Horrifying thought.
A roar has erupted over the now-famous phrase “legitimate rape,” Rep. Todd Akin’s clumsy attempt to justify fundamentalists’ justification of strict anti-abortion measures. Echoing President Obama’s assessment that rape is rape, the Washington Post editorial board suggested that a code is in play, that “the remarks are not the first, nor are they likely to be the last, in a long-running effort to downplay the horror of rape as a way to restrict access to abortion” and what anti-abortion politicians suggest is “that not all rape victims are victims.”
I’d go a step further. The code from fundamentalists sends a message that good women are not raped.
Yet women, particularly the most vulnerable, have difficulty abandoning religion. They’re less likely to become nonbelievers, because the church, mosque, synagogue and other religious communities promise security that their families might not provide....
Yet that safety factor could be in decline. Women can’t help but be skeptical about religious communities that resist women’s opinions on responsible family planning, education aspirations, career ambitions, and parenting goals – let alone parse the definition of rape. In competing for hearts and minds, religious leaders become strident, judgmental and exclusive, imposing rigid standards for good standing, not to mention a demand for financial support of such judgments.
The struggle to find security and religious perfection in a world of 7 billion people is leading to fragmentation and hyperdifferentation, suggest the editors of the Oxford Handbook of Feminist Theology. The most powerful tend to benefit from the fragmentation, repeatedly convincing many of the overwhelmed, women and men, to act against their own best interests.
Feminism tends toward inclusiveness, community and communication. The Internet, cellphones, air travel as instruments of modern globalization ensure that every community must confront constant, rapid change....
If the world's women truly knew what they had lost in female-oriented religion, mythology and spirituality because of violent usurpation by male-dominant cults, many would undoubtedly be VERY angry. The horrendous "witch burnings" and most other torments, tortures and slaughters - genderocide - of women has been the result of this degradation of ancient traditions.
Man made God
One book I highly recommend in this regard is Man Made God by Barbara Walker, which I edited and published - this book provides much of the remedy for the male-dominant religious abuse!
In this remarkable collection, Walker turns a critical eye towards:
• Religion as big business • Religion's effects on children • The Bible as a "moral guide" and "history" • Biblical infallibility • The doctrine of "original sin" • The biblical attitude towards sexuality • God as "Father" • Church doctrine regarding women • Church history vis-à-vis the Dark Ages, Inquisition, and book- and witch-burning • Christian afterlife traditions • Traditional Christian origins • And much more…
We sing the hymn, "Morning Has Broken," which speaks of the Garden of Eden "fresh from God's Word," and of God's literal footstep on the first grass. We may think of it as a nice poetic metaphor, though the writer of the lyric obviously thought of it as the truth. But the story of Eden is not a nice poetic metaphor; nor is it true. It is a lie born out of ignorance, and what’s more, it is a pernicious lie that has caused an unimaginably huge amount of unnecessary human suffering over the centuries. It is the source of the doctrines of original sin, female inferiority and the damnation of disbelievers. The evils rooted in this myth still continue. There are still millions of people willing to kill or to die for Old Testament lies. There are millions of people who despise scientific enlightenment, who forbid real education for their children, who hate their neighbors if they disagree with Bible mythology. Battles are still fought, and will go on being fought, over religious nonsense. This is one of the greatest of human follies: Perhaps this is even what might be called the real original sin....
Today's more informed Bible scholars and theologians know perfectly well that Jesus was never an identifiable single person, but rather a composite figure drawn from numerous savior-god traditions. They know that there never was a single coherent philosophy that could be called Christian, dating from the early years of our era. But today's theologians seldom dare to make this knowledge clear to the general public. Why not?
The answer is money. If the real truth of "gospel truth" should become widely revealed, the financial loss would be devastating.
