Oy gevalt! When I read the article below about the planned megamosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, I buried my head in my hands and said, "Oh, my god." Perhaps it may be clearer now why I focus so much on religious pathology...
Well, if it's World War III we're headed for, bring it on already. The world is so totally screwed up as it is.
Here's how this scenario may play out: Jewish radicals finally bomb the temple mount, and the Muslim world goes bonkers, pounding Israel with the hundreds of thousands of missiles and artillery supposedly pointed at that tiny nation from all directions.

The fact that the Dome of the Rock or any of the other mosques are even still there on Judaism's holiest site - and that Jews can't even move their lips in prayer while on the mount - belies the claim that Israelis in general are mindless Muslim-hating warmongers.
I wouldn't want to live in Israel after this point - the Islamic supremacy is going to become thicker there, as it is practically everywhere else. In this case, if such a war erupted, it would affect most of the world's seven billion people, since not only would Jews and Muslims be pulled into it, but so too would be Christians, most of whom revere Israel as the "Holy Land." The extent of the Abrahamic cultus's reach goes far beyond those three demographics - alone comprising some 2.5 billion people - as well. Perhaps only the few "uncontacted" peoples will remain unaffected - except for by the nuclear fallout and other pollution that does not remain confined to the battlefield of Armageddon.
Speaking of which, unfortunately many of those Abrahamic followers are not only anticipating the "end of the world" - i.e., Armageddon, the Apocalypse, the Coming of the Jewish Messiah, the Second Coming of Jesus, the Return of the Twelfth Imam/Mahdi and so on - but they are also actively attempting to bring about this global destruction. In this regard, this act of building a supermosque on the Temple Mount seems to be part of the plan.

For example, the adorable president of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has repeatedly stated that in order to facilitate the return of the 12th imam or mahdi - a religious tenet especially central to "Twelfth Imamate" Shiite Islam - much of the world has to be destroyed. Hence, Ahmadinejad's constant saber-rattling about Israel, calling for its destruction.
In the end, we are all held hostage to this strain of religious fanaticism. Horrifying to consider what is coming next.
Expert Warns of Waqf's Dangerous Plans for Temple Mount
Archaeologist Dr. Eilat Mazar warned on Thursday about the plans of the Muslim religious authority, the Waqf, for the Temple Mount.
Speaking to Arutz Sheva, Mazar said that for the past 12 years, the Waqf has constantly built on the Temple Mount in an attempt to implement its final plan: the establishment of a huge mosque on the Mount.
"There is no order there and no one to uphold the law," she said. "No one can enforce the law there. Not the Israel Antiquities Authority, not the Nature and Parks Authority and not the city of Jerusalem. The police are there but they are precluded from enforcing."
The Temple Mount was left in the hands of the Waqf following Jerusalem’s reunification in 1967, a decision of then-Defense Minister Moshe Dayan. The Waqf has taken advantage of this and removed every sign of ancient Jewish presence at the most Jewish holy site. At the entrance, a Waqf sign says, "The Al-Aqsa Mosque courtyard and everything in it is Islamic property."
Police, in an attempt to appease the Waqf, discriminate against Jews. They limit the number of Jewish worshippers allowed on the Temple Mount at one time in order to prevent conflict with Muslim worshippers. They often close the Mount to Jews in response to Muslim riots – despite evidence that Muslim riots have been planned in advance for the specific purpose of forcing Jews out.
Mazar, a member of a group of Israelis who work to prevent the destruction of antiquities on the Temple Mount, said that the State Comptroller wrote a report which exposed serious findings about Israeli authorities’ inability to enforce the law on the Temple Mount, but noted that the report has remained confidential to this day.
"The Comptroller produced a thorough report and questioned all the right people. He came to important conclusions which so far have not been published. Our group has demanded and continues to demand that the contents of the report be published."
She warned that the excavations of antiquities being performed on the Temple Mount by the Waqf may lead to disaster.
"It has been going on for 12 years. They’re digging there as if it's a construction site. There is a danger that the ground will collapse under thousands of Muslims. It endangers the safety of the people. There must be engineering control over this huge monument. Every stone on the Temple Mount may contain some of the most important antiquities in the world."
Speaking about increased Israeli presence on the site, the archaeologist Mazar said:
"I do not accept the argument that this could lead to a world war. The Temple Mount is at the center of Jerusalem. We’re not harming the Muslim rituals. We only want to enforce the law and order so that a disaster can be prevented. The Waqf cannot be trusted. If something collapses there the Western Wall may also be damaged, because the Temple Mount is on a round hill and its edges will be in danger."
Mazar said the Waqf's final plan is to unite all the mosques on the Temple Mount and create one big mosque. She added that it has been working for years to put the plan into practice and warned that if this happens, Jews will not be able to go to the Temple Mount.
"We know that the Waqf’s goal is to unite all one the mosques, and unfortunately today it is far from being just an illusion,” she said. “We will definitely weep over this plan in the future."
Not only will Israelis be (further) subjugated in their own (and only) country, but if they try to do anything about the construction of this supremacist monument, such as stopping it from happening or destroying it afterwards, there will quite likely be a war, possibly globally. And that's one reason to weep, for sure.

And one can see the result of Islamic total or partial rule in eighteen or so countries, which rank among the highest nations of the world on every index of misery.
This situation is dire indeed. Who is to blame? Religion? Man? God? Myth and superstition? Ignorance? It appears Man is his worst enemy.

The "gospel" of Barnabas written in Aramaic was recently found in Turkey. Some "scholars" think it dates back to the 5th century so is probably a "fake" .
To summarize, Barnabas was one of the apostles of Jesus from Cyprus. Supposedly, Jesus is not portrayed as a son of God in this gospel and this gospel also rejects the trinity. But, relevant to the discussion here, people are claiming that this "gospel" predicts the ooming of "Mohammed" which I think is bunkum! Gospel predicting the coming of the mythical character, Mohammed? Hahah ! That could be Turkish propaganda.
Being an atheist, obviously my gut feeling is that this is a fake. But, unlike knowledgeable, brainy, brilliant Acharya, I am not trained in archaeology or Bibliology to know if it is a fake or not.

This is exactly one of the reasons I feel humanity needs to outgrow religion. Religious fundementalism is such a threat.
Now I realise there are good religious people as well, but when the religions themselves spawn so many people who are absolute bigots and sociopaths, then the world may seriously need to consider letting religion go (or at least the Abrahamic religions that cause so much trouble).
A world without Judaism, Christianity, and Islam may not seem so good to certain people, but it would clearly be better than a world where civilisation has been ravaged by nuclear war.
